Alpine Radio enjoyed a great day out on Saturday 27th November at the RUOK? Coming Out of the Smoke Picnic held at the Mount Beauty Bicentennial Park. The event was hosted by the Mount Beauty Neighbourhood Centre, Keep Calm Committee. The community was treated to a free sausage sizzle (Mount Beauty & District Men’s Shed), free pizza (Woodfire Desire) and free coffee (Mt Coffee).

We met some amazing people and were lucky enough to have on air chats with some very special guests representing the various agencies and emergency services:

  • The Centre of Continuing Education, Wangaratta, Deb Humphreys
  • Wellways, Lucy Webster
  • Tawonga Red Cross, Helen McDougall
  • Mount Beauty CFA, Russell Bowring
  • Forest Fire Management Victoria, Ben
  • SES Falls Creek, Andrew
  • Ambulance Victoria, Jake

Three lucky winners received a Mount Beauty Neighbourhood Centre ‘Go Box’ – a sturdy crate with sealed lid that you can pack in the boot of the car and equipped with the essentials for bushfire preparedness if you decide to Leave.

Huge thanks to the Alpine Radio Tech Team, Ken, Michael and Rob. Thanks to Helen and Noel for being part of the set up/pack down crew. Thanks to presenters Caitlin, Vivienne, Ken and Linda.

A big shout out to Caitlin for her in depth knowledge of artists, their hits, awards and music chart achievements. To Vivienne for compiling and selecting the latest hits from the ARIA charts, which lifted the vibe and energy of the event. We know it was good, because young Lucy gave great feedback on the music, saying that Blinding Lights (The Weekend) was one of her favourites.

Lastly, our thanks to Kitty Vigo, Trish Dixon, Eric Napier and the MBNCI Team for inviting Alpine Radio to be part of Saturday’s event.
